Most of the images here are scans of prints made of shots I took while working in Northern Cameroon between 1983 and 1988. The locations for most are Ngaoundere and the Tikar Plain, particularly in Mayo Darle and environs. Some of the black and white images have been hand-coloured by my wife Jacqueline Kouwenhoven, thanks to whom I got to know the fascinating nomadic Mbororo people who are the subjects of a lot of these photos.
So great to see your photos again, John, after so many years. I have several of these very shots enlarged and framed, memories of Ngaoundere. You really catch the essence. Julie
