Crawling Silk Moth 1.jpg

This little creature was crawling frantically along the forest floor; you can see the ant attacking its rear end. From the feathery yellow antennae, it appears to be a moth, specifically, one of the Saturniidae, or silk moths, which live in this area. I think it's an adult which has just emerged from its cocoon and its wings had not yet filled with fluid and hardened. It ran up a pine tree as fast as it could, no doubt to avoid more ant attacks. If any entomologist or moth enthusiast has any better idea what it is, I would appreciate your input.
