Folsom Lake is a large artificial reservoir, surrounded by several thousand acres of state park land. I live only a few miles from there, so it's convenient for photography, bird watching, and dog hikes. Many excellent pictures come from there. In late April, tne northern shore is covered with masses of sky lupines (the same type of flower called bluebonnets in other states). The plants race to bloom before the rising water drowns them.
