A little after 6:30 PM, the bird flew around again and in fantastic, evening light, we watched as it skimmed the water, slicing it just like it would if it were on the coast. I had seen it pick something from the water on an earlier flight but this was the first time I had seen it skimming the surface.

It landed, walked into the water, took a bath, preened and then took flight again, circled a couple of times and of all things, it headed north over the north Loosahatchie dikes. We followed it as it went into Arkansas for sure and watched as it continued out of sight. Who would have thought this bird would have flown NORTH!
