Nancy Moore and I were fortunate to get an up close and personal look at this Sunning Acadian Flycatcher near Reelffot Lake. I took over a dozen photos as the bird selected a perch in the sun, then fluffed up its feathers and spread its tail. Turning its body at an angle to the sun, allowing sun light to shine directly on the exposed skin of the body. Probably very good to rid themselves of light sensitive parasites and maybe vitamin D production. I've seen many species doing the same thing over the years. As they stare into the sun it takes on the appearance of sun worship.
