This subadult has replaced its two outside tail feathers with new black shafted adult rectrices and six interior primaries on each wing. Usually the outside remiges, nos. 7-8-9-10 are retained until the birds have migrated south of the US border. Fairly light head with uniform gray breast and belly, plus those black shafted tail feathers indicates a male.
