Dauphin Island Birding

I try to attend the Alabama Ornithological Society's spring and fall meetings every year. The following shots will explain why. Great birds and people in a wonderful setting. No wonder it ranks in the top 10 birding destinations in the US.

If you want more details and maps on birding locations and how you can help in the efforts to save the habitat try:

Photo ops abound during migration. All these photos were taken with an old Sony Digital with less than a 1 meg sensor.

Of course, while you are there, you can cross on the ferry to watch Bob and Martha Sargent and their famous crew, band hundreds of migrants at Fort Morgan or visit the Bayou LaBatre ponds, trip out to Sand Island or the Mud Flats at the Battleship. The area abounds in birds and habitat, plus great food and birding company at the meeting.
