Canton,Oklahoma is well-known for one of the nation's oldest and most successful fishing tournaments--the Canton Lake Walleye Rodeo. Canton Lake is located just 2 miles north Canton,Ok and is a U.S.Army Corps of Engineers Lake. It offers camping areas,a swimming beach, 45 miles of shoreline and 7,910 acres of cool,clear water. The Walleye Rodeo is held every May with prizes averaging more thatn $30,000. There's a carnival,a kids fishing derby, street dance,a parade and craft show and best of all, great food and fun. It's a fisherman's paradise,with walleye,crappie,white bass,channel catfish and large mouth bass. Canton Lake offers great boating of all types,nature trail, scenic drive, a prairie dog town and wildlife of all kinds. The photos of the back side of the dam was when they had been working on it.
