2007 Oklahoma Centennial Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive

More then two dozen cowboys and cowgirls driving about 450 head of cattle on the Chisholm Trail from the Oklahoma / Texas border to Caldwell, Kan. This year's cattle drive is the 140th anniversary of the first cattle drive along the Chisholm Trail and a Centennial celebration. These photos are of the camp site near Enid,Ok on 9-29-2007 where the cattle drive stayed over for a needed rest. The site was open to visiters during special hours and seemed to have a good turn out. This is great. I am a fourth grade teacher and we are studying Oklahoma. I am excited to share these pictures with my class. I wish you were closer to us so we could travel to see this. We are in Tulsa, but these pictures can help them have a better understanding of what a true cattle drive was like.

Great gallery! There was an article in the Winfield Courier a couple days ago about one of the riders that is from this area. It is great that this part of history is being kept alive, wish more kids would get away from the video games and learn about their roots.
