This is a MoonBow shot at Cumberland State Park Resort in Kentucky, U.S.A.
This is the only spot in the western hemisphere were one can see and photograph a MoonBow. The conditions have to be as follows:
1. Clear sky with no haze
2. Full moon
3. Enough water over the falls to make a good mist
4. Wind direction to pull the mist downstream of the falls
This one was shot at about 11:30 p.m. central time (local time was 12:30 p.m. eastern time).
Since our eyes see mainly black and white in low light (the light sensitive 'rods' are not in color), the moonbow is a white-grey bow to our eyes. The camera captures in color and so it sees the rainbow colors. Cool!
