Meet Misty...aka "Metro"...the nine month old stray kitten who commuted on the Wyckoff Avenue BMT in Brooklyn. She has the most extraordinary personality despite what happened to her. Hers is a long story, that started in December, just over a month and a half ago, when her forearm was severed after a subway train struck her. This is Misty...she has survived more in her short life than most of us have in our adult human ones... Very touching gallery.I have just taken custody of Winky, who had his eye gauged out by some kids.Next week we will be getting another who has also had her leg amputated.I think I will call her Misty.VVVVVV

I have tears in my eyes reading misty's story. She is the spitting image of my Tiga who I had to put to sleep last April at the young age of 12.. Keep fighting Misty!!

A wonderful, touching story, the Photos make it even more poignant. As a cat owner, it's easy to relate to the plight of this poor cat. They inhabit this planet along with us, and how wonderful it would be if we showed all these neglected animals the respect and love we owe them.

Jeanne - thank you so much for posting Misty's "Metro's" story. What a strong will to survive and a heartwarming and caring story. As Ray said, Tammie and Zoey's story has reached out. Tammie and Zoey have reached out, again. Human kindness certainly is heavier than its opposite. Misty has entered into our collective hearts and everyone is deeply touched by the kindness of the people who saved this little life. For years to come, everytime anyone of those people will lay an eye on Misty, they'll have a big smile on their face and their heart will increse a beat, out of joy... like when we find the chocolate that has the cherry in a chocolate box... Thank you to all that were involved, the vet, others who kept an eye on Misty, Jeanne of course... and somewhere, not seen here, but who stated a ball rolling, Tammie.

What a story, and great pictures as well. Isn't it amazing how the will to survive can out weigh such odds. Thank you for bringing us Misty's story. Again, people need to know that so many of these animals are over looked in being adopted because of disabilities. Thank you for helping to raise awareness.
