Historical Portsmouth Village On Portsmouth Island, North Carolina
Located south of Ocracoke Island, this North Carolina barrier island is accessible only by boat. My three hour mid day visit was a walk through the remains of Portsmouth Village which dates back to 1752 and has been uninhabited since 1971. The remaining buildings have been restored but still show the power of the weather and their age. It was a great visit and I highly recommend the Austin Boat Tour Company Of Ocracoke for your transportation to Portsmouth Island while visiting the Outer Banks. Early in morning or late in the day could yield many additional interesting photographic opportunities.
I have tried to be accurate in the names of the buildings but if there is a mistake please let me know.
