A Majestic Bison At Rest

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Keeping our distance and using our long lenses, my son and I tried not to disturb this bison which also seemed to ignore us. It was a dark day with off and on rain so we suspected this bison was just waiting out the bad weather. Respecting wild game and giving them space is what everyone should do. Unfortunately many people ignore these safety precautions and endanger themselves as well as the animals.

Great Image of this magnificent animal.

good usage of your telephoto lens!
I also like the idea that you give your viewers a full size image rather a little postcard picture V V

Fabulous capture Dave! When Marcia, David and I went to Custer State Park in SD, we ended up in the middle of a herd of them while we were in the car. Unfortunately, I did have my really long lens, 600mm in full frame terms, attached and most of them were too close to fit in the viewfinder. ~BV~

So impressive and lovely in context. I'd also use the longest lens possible for the reasons you note; respect and safety. Let sleeping Bisons lie.

What a wonderful photo. Close enough not to impact its peace and your own safety...very wise. V

all fellow travellers on our troubled planet deserve respect...the long lens did a fine job anyway, as well as ensuring he rested in peace..
