An Abandoned Church In Giles County

Giles County, Virginia

I would have liked to explore the area around this old church but the property was posted. The best I could do was using a long lens from the other side of the road.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II
1/250s f/8.0 at 100.0mm iso800 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

This is a really neat shot, a wonderful high key look to it. since it was a church maybe you could have got closer. Asking for forgiveness instead of permission.

You still made an amazing image!
The light is sublime!
It is a very powerful work as the old church is being swallowed up by the beautiful surroundings!

The high B/W contrast and crispness of this image deliver a close rendition to the magic of IR....the tele compression and dense surrounding foliage convey the charm of the place with balanced rich tones......an inspiring composition...V

I like the framing and brightness. It is too bad it is posted. V

beautiful, but somewhat sad image Dave and you presented it well in B&W. If only the wall could talk and reveal the many stories experienced inside but never revealed.

Great find. Like the perspective and your processing work. "V"

Soon to be totally overgrown. The bright tones induce compassionate feelings. V

I know that feeling well - seeing something like this that you are dying to get closer to. But the long lens worked just fin and nabbed a very attractive image without having to navigate through tall weeds and the bugs, stickers, etc. hidden within. ~BV~

Beautiful capture, with great framing and light, despite the fact that the church was abandoned. V.
