Freezing Fog, Mountain Lake Hotel And Resort, Giles County, Virginia

The Mountain Lake Hotel And Resort in Giles County is about a 30 minute drive from where I live. Due to the higher altitude, the resort experiences much colder weather than we have in Blacksburg. I recently added a new Canon 6D as a backup full frame camera and wanted to try it out. The top of the mountain was covered with thick fog and the fog was forming an ice coating on all the tree branches. It was a winter wonderland and this is an example of what I was seeing. Unlike freezing rain, everything had ice crystals that were amazing.

Those winter trees must be shivering in the bitter wind and those naked branches and twigs are ready to catch more soft falling flakes...a wonderful winter scene...V
