One View In Sedona- An Approaching Rainstorm

After posting a color version of this image in my Arizona 2015 gallery I decided to try a black and white version of this same image. I was not satisfied with the color version and wondered if the midday flat light had prevented me from showing what I felt when I saw and photographed this scene or if the vivid colors overshadowed this scenic view. I would appreciate any feedback regarding this dilemma over these two versions of the same image. Suggestions both positive and negative are always appreciated and valued. Thanks, Dave

An amazing monochrome Dave. I can almost feel the wonderful textures through the computer screen. I also like your generous use of foreground and the dramatic sky is a terrific topper. V

I must agree with you Dave. This looks so much better in BW. More details coming out and a great sky. Love the frame too.

I do like both versions. The colors are beautiful in the other photo, but the monochrome makes the sky and details really pop. My eyes focus more on the details in the B and W version and the gorgeous colors in the other. V

the forms and overall scene are certainly strong enough for the image to work well in monochrome...tough to choose between the two versions, as the red rock, red earth, and contrasti8ng green vegetation also looked great..

You may have summed up the American West here, my friend.
I love every detail of this masterpiece.
This will speak to all who love monochrome photography as well as those from this area.

Very, very nice.
Wonderful tones created with the approaching
storm, Dave.

I've often gone to monochrome the conserve the mood feeling
of the mid day light.
