The battery test was a very popular test back in late 2004. Here it is. Here is the same back focus. Note the battery to the right of the focused battery is in focus. In retrospect, I would increase the spacing of the batteries, but this image is consistent with every other pre-adjustment image in this gallery and all of the dozens or hundreds of test images I shot over a 5 month period.
