This was an interesting image because I could not see the sun with naked eyes or through the camera's eyepiece. Apparently the 4" glass of my 300mm F2.8 lens has enough light gathering power to pick up the sun long after it disappears in the haze of the lower horizon. I never knew that! I have since seen this phenomenon a couple of times and I have learned to keep shooing!
