Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge

The initial images in this gallery were shot in early November during the initial phase of the migration season. I am told it just gets better as November progresses. The weekend prior to Thansgiving through Thanksgiving weekend is "Bird Week" and certain access roads are opened for additional access to the wildlife.

Being new to birding I was fascinated by the spectacle that I have chronicled below. These images are somewhat raw but I wanted to make them accessible because of the timeliness of the event.

The long tele images were shot with the AFS Nikkor 300 F/4 + TC20E II 2x teleconverter at 600mm. Other images were shot with a 70-200 VR and 24-120 VR.
