Surf's Up at Seaside

Normally my focus is entirely on the surfers when I shoot, but occasionally the environment around them really adds interest and makes the shot for me. In the background of this frame is a large vessel that is in the process of pumping sand off of the ocean floor to use to replenish that washed away by beach erosion. It is certainly not something we see here every day and I thought it upped the impact of the shot.

Very interesting shot. I really like how you showed the ship not far behind the surfer. A unique situation.

An excellent surfing capture and the vessel in the background adds interest to the composition...V

Great photo of this working ship with all the surfers.

I'm glad you explained why the ship was there on the beach! What an interesting sight to see while the surfers are active in the foreground. V

What a cool image. The ship seem almost on top of the surfers. The lifts almost mimic the surfer. V

the ship adds a rogue element, and presents a lumbering presence beside the frolicking surfers...interesting that the beach gets rebuilt, and doubtless rewarding for beach-goers..

The number of those surfers and their size and distance is really accented by that ship in the background. A really unique shot.

I agree. The photo is much better with that background element.

What a great shot. The surfers look so tiny with the ship in the background.
