I do a lot of surf photography and every once in a while I take a shot that I think captures the essence of the athlete and the sport. This image of a young surfer named Reef is one of those for me. The upward POV shows you just how high he was in the water. You can also see the confident intensity in his face. The wild water shows you the path that he came from, while the trajectory of his board shows you where he is headed.
