No Lifeguard On Duty

I got this shot of lifeguard tower 15 on the beach yesterday in a background of threatening clouds; the "No Lifeguard On Duty" sign prominently displayed. For me at least the symbolism was unmistakeable. COVID-19 is out there and may be closer than you think- the first case in Encinitas was recorded over the weekend. No one is there to protect us from the threat of this virus, it's up to each and every one of us to protect ourselves and our loved ones by helping to halt the spread of the virus by social distancing.

I imagine this is an eerie sight with no coastguard in this station, Nick. The world is changing around us and not for the better...V

I like the monotone here, really works to isolate the station and signage. Our beaches were open over the weekend, but crowds were small for Spring Break (and school districts are closed). I ventured out on Saturday for a hike in Galveston State Park and didn't see anyone else on the trail, which was nice actually. I'm getting cabin fever spending so much time at home.

our predicament astutely distilled...we all have to dig in now, and marshal all the resourcefulness we can..

A sign of the time. When I see this I'm reminded of the Luna Module.
