This shot is part of a series I took at the A Walk on Water (AWOW) surfing event at Seaside, Cardiff State Beach, CA. AWOW is an organization that specializes in surf therapy for children with special needs. Trained surf instructors take the kids into the waves for a day of surfing fun. I shoot a lot of surfing at Seaside and photograph some amazing talent there, but still this is my favorite event of the year. The energy, compassion and love on display is incredible.
