The Green Flash is an atmospheric phenomenon where in the last instant before the sun sinks into the ocean it produces a flash of green light. It is fairly rare and requires just the right conditions, but folks at the beach usually stop what they are doing to see if it happens that night and its appearance is often greeted with a round of applause.
