Livin' the Dream

I try to keep politics out of my art, but sometimes, well I just can’t. You see there are strong anti-immigration sentiments swirling today in America. Not just against illegal immigration, but also some forms of legal immigration. Curious really since nearly all of us are descended from immigrants. Capturing scenes like this reminds me that many immigrants arrive willing to do jobs the rest of us won’t take. They do this to gain a foothold in this country and for the hope of a better life for future generations. Just like many of our ancestors did.

Very beautiful composed image!
I agree with your words, I am sorry for all the people who have to leave their home countries for whatever reason.

Vous avez entièrement raison! Une superbe vue d'un travailleur au champ et des habitations où les gens ne sont pas intéressés par ces emplois! V

So true. The wall is thinly veiled racism. I really like this series. V

fabulous layers...good point about the many immigrants doing a lot of key work to keep your economy going...there is a strong whiff of racism behind the anti-immigrant sentiments...let's face it racists are shallow and simplistic...V

I heartily concur with you, Nick. This image surprised me. I expected the plantings would be in a farming community not a residential area and ocean side. You live in an idyllic community. "VVV"

Well put and well captured, and especially effective with the flag in the distance. I wonder how many American citizens would want a job like this (or countless others) once the administration succeeds in getting rid of all immigrants, legal or otherwise.

I love this juxtaposition of the field of flowers with no doubt an immigrant working there with the new seaside houses and other buildings beyond. I agree with your message 100% and this is an important image for illustrating that. ~BV~
