Shelby American Collection Museum in Colorado -- October 2011

The Shelby American Collection Museum in Boulder, CO, houses a fine array of genuine Cobras, Ford GT40s, GT500s and GT350s. Any Shelby or Ford enthusiast would want to see these automobiles.

However, some of the historically significant cars shown on the museum's Web site were no longer there during my visit in early October 2011, such as George Stauffer's black #2 Ford GT40 Mk II (P1046) that was driven to victory at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon; Larry Miller's #1 light blue Ford GT40 Mk II (P1015) driven by Ken Miles and Dennis Hulme in the 1966 Le Mans race, and inadvertently relegated to 2nd place from the lead because of Ford's staging of a photo finish for advertising purposes; and Larry Miller's #13 championship-winning 1965 Cobra Daytona Coupe (CSX2299) that was raced successfully by Dan Gurney and Bob Bondurant in '64 and '65. If you are planning to travel to the museum to see a particular car shown on its Web site, it would be a good idea to call ahead and ask whether it would be there during your visit.

Many of the cars on display there on Oct. 1, 2011, are featured in this gallery. As in most other automotive museums, cars are occasionally taken out or added. For more information, visit the museum's Web site at http://shelbyamericancollection.org/ .

I used a Nikon D300 with an 18-200mm Nikkor VR zoom lens to shoot the photos in this gallery. Note that the images and other content here are protected by copyright laws. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized use, copying, printing or direct linking is prohibited.
