Postwar Automobiles at the Nethercutt Museum -- August 2010

The Nethercutt Collection includes more than 250 of the world's finest automobiles, as well as musical instruments, French furniture, European decorative pieces, a Canadian railroad locomotive and a private American railcar. Most of these rare collectibles are housed in two buildings in Sylmar, north of Los Angeles. One building is referred to as the Collection, while the other one is called the Museum. Both are open to the public free of charge. They are a must-see attraction for car enthusiasts. For more information, go to the Nethercutt Collection's Web site at http://nethercuttcollection.org .

This gallery is the second of two devoted to what's on public display at the Museum building, which is distinct from the Collection building. It features a few cars from the period after World War II, including hot rods based on prewar Fords. I have included a 1928 Ford and a 1933 American Austin here because they were displayed in the same room as some of the postwar cars. All belong to the Nethercutt Collection unless indicated otherwise in the captions.

I shot the photos in this gallery with a handheld Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 18-200mm VR zoom. All are as-is straight from the camera, with no post-processing applied, except for a few marked BR, DC, ST or CR in their captions, referring to the brightening, distortion correction, straightening and cropping done to them. All the photos have been resized for online viewing. Note that the images and other content here are protected by copyright laws. All rights are reserved.
