"With the loss of the Austin-Healey 3000, BMC decided to replace it with a six-cylinder version of the MGB. With a big three-liter six over the wheels and torsion bar front suspension, the new car was more of a grand tourer than an out-and-out sports car. It could eat vast stretches of highway effortlessly, but after a mixed reception from the motoring press, sales never really took off."
