A sunny and mild morning on June 1 resulted in another huge turnout at the Cars & Coffee in Great Falls, Virginia. I saw two 2014 Jaguar F-Types, as well as a Lamborghini Aventador, a couple of McLaren MP4-12Cs, a 2005 or 2006 Ford GT, a 1969 Ford GT40 and the usual Ferraris, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Jaguars, Audi R8s, Corvettes, Cobra replicas and Mustangs. The car that interested me the most and the one that I most wanted to take home was a 1939 SS 100 Jaguar 3½ Litre Roadster. The SS 100 was the first car to carry the Jaguar designation, first as a model name; later Jaguar became a brand name.

Every fair-weather Saturday, hundreds of car enthusiasts in Virginia, D.C., Maryland and neighboring states wake up early to bring their toys to this 7-to-9 a.m. gathering about half an hour west of Washington, D.C. Usually, many attendees come and go, with some staying only for a short while. Many show up sporadically, some with a different car each time, so most cars tend to be different from one Saturday to the next, practically making every visit worthwhile.
