Porsche Club of America Chesapeake Challenge 46 -- Oct. 31, 2015

The Chesapeake Region of the Porsche Club of America held its 46th annual Chesapeake Challenge on the grounds of the Manor Tavern in Monkton, Maryland, on Oct. 31, 2015. This multi-segment and whole-day event consisted of a concours; a catered lunch; a time-speed-distance rally (with a few gimmicks thrown in); a tech quiz for Porsche nerds; cocktails; and an awards banquet.

In this gallery, I am pleased to share my photos of 45 of the Porsches that competed in the concours, a car show in which the cars' presentation, condition and cleanliness were judged. There were two categories -- "full concours" and "street-prep." Each category, in turn, was made up of various classes. "Best in Show" and "Best in Class" winners are identified in this gallery, though one class winner escaped my camera; the rest are presented by model year within each class. (The numbers 964, 993, 996, 997 and 991 refer to the various generations of the 911 that came after 1988.)

Also included here are bonus shots of a major car collector's three Porsche supercars -- a 959, a Carrera GT and a 918 Spyder -- plus photos of a brand-new 2016 911 Turbo from Porsche of Towson. These Porsches were not entered in the concours, but were "exhibition only" cars. (No photos of the spectators' cars are featured here.)

In this event, my photography played second fiddle to my primary task of serving as one of the judges in the "full concours" category. I had very little time to shoot pictures amidst a tight schedule. As a result, most of my images ended up being nothing more than snapshots that I grabbed in a hurry on my way to lunch.
