Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance -- "Best in Show," March 2011

Duesenbergs won the coveted "Best in Show" awards in the 2011 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance and Concours de Sport held on March 13, 2011. This was not a surprise since Duesenberg was a featured marque in this year's event, and since the two winning entries had been previous recipients of "Best of Show" awards in Pebble Beach. I had the pleasure of photographing both of them in other venues within the past three years. As usual, there were 225 invited entries in this year's concours. For more information, visit http://www.ameliaconcours.org .

Is it "Best in Show" or "Best of Show"? Both are correct. The Pebble Beach Concours uses the term "Best of Show." The Amelia Island Concours prefers "Best in Show" -- at least that's what appears on the 2011 trophies; but this year's printed program uses both the "of" and "in" terms. Fortunately, there is no disagreement over "Best in Class."

This gallery is my first of five on the 2011 concours held on Amelia Island in Florida. I took all the photos here with a handheld Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 18-200mm VR zoom. They are straight-from-the-camera images, with no post-processing, unless marked BR, ST or CR in their captions, referring to the brightness, straightening or cropping adjustments made. All the photos have been resized for online viewing. Note that the images and other content here are protected by copyright laws. All rights are reserved.
