D300: macro tubes, TCs and reverse adapters on different lenses
combinations of macro paraphanalia on some of my lenses. I have the sigma 150 coming ;^]
The quality of these shots are questionable, as I am new to macro, but this lets you know how much magnification with certian combos. most everything was at f11. I realized right off that I get closer if I put on the macro tubes between the teleconveter and the lens. I need to shoot the Tamron with more combinations I see after looking here. One thing about that lens only, had to dial in -3ev. not sure why. The D300 did good all by itself otherwise.
The 180mm was about 4 feet away. the 300f4 (older version non afs) was about 6 feet away. Clearly see the need for tripod for these two lenses and maybe a focus aid (not so clear). I thought the 300mm would do better but know I need to work on my technique.
Simple DIY setup, handheld, with onboard flash using white dinner plate as diffuser/umbrella/bounce. Fine white china in this case but paper plates suffice also. ;^?
Disclaimer: no little green bug was harmed (what is this thing? I found it at the salad bar at the local eatery). maybe blinded. I put him in the refrigerator for a couple hours, and after the session, and he started to wiggle around some, put him in the garden where it was warm. Learned this from Ronnie, they are cold blooded. Anyone know of a harmless spray to immobilize bugs temporarily for macro?
