Peter
When God delays it does not mean that He will deny. The Bible tells of many instances when God has waited, only to give blessing in greater measure. God waited till Jacob could wrestle no more, and then blessed him. Christ waited till the Syrophenician woman fell at His feet crying "Lord, help me," then he gave the healing she sought for her child. God waited while Peter and Silas prayed into the night, then He released them from prison. We think that because there is a delay, there will be no answer. God holds back for our good. His loving heart wants to give us the best at the right time, and so often, when it comes, He gives far more than we asked. Isaiah 30:18 assures us, "And therefore Jehovah will keep in expectation of showing you favor...Happy are all those keeping in expectation of him."
