"Take your time... Stop n smell the roses" ... I finally had a chance to do that (er something like that) the day it took this picture... The surreal calmness and open spaced tranquility in Yerba Buena Park was in sharp contrast to the blistering cacophony I found in the over-priced confides of the METREON. While walking up a flight of concrete stairs that would eventually lead me to the top of the waterfall memorial (of which I unfortunately failed to get the proper name of), I stumbled upon a bed of flowers that weren’t as well kept as the rest of the flowers that I had seen. Looking to my left, beyond an 'artsy' looking office building, I noticed a high rise building under construction. It's unfinished state seemed out of place among the finished and refined Buildings; much like this bed of trampled and neglected flowers compared to the pampered highly visible flowers along the main promenade...
I wanted the flower n the construction work in the same picture. Since I couldnt see LCD or the ViewFinder, I had to set my camera on the ground and 'eye-ball' the picture.
Anyway,

the first thing that catches my attention is the bold-bright pink color of the flower. The flower its self is NOT all that pretty, so it dosen't hold my attention for very long. However as soon as my attention wanders from the flower, the out-of-focus lines of the building and the dark shadows at the bottom of the picture, draw my eyes BACK to the flower. Then I start to notice the details of the flower - the single pistol n stamen, the hairy fibers on the pettals, the long syringe-like thorn, and the intrecate veins of the pettals and leaves - there's even a little dew forming, if you look hard enough.
It's not ment to be a 'pretty' picture... but in some ways I guess it is.
Now tell me what
