I first went away to sea on this day
many years ago back in the 1980s.
I nipped to the harbour at lunchtime today to think
I still remember the feeling as I climbed the gangway
up to my first ship.
"What have I done!"
A feeling I've felt many times since
but it usually seems to all work out in the end...
