Eagles & Salmon

Photographs in this gallery were principally made in the winters of 04-13 in natural settings in and around Brakendale, along the Squamish, Manquam, and Cheakamus Rivers in British Columbia, Canada. During winters Bald Eagles gather on salmon rivers to feed on an abundance of spawned out salmon. Primary equipment: 1DMkiV body - Canon 400 mm 5.6 L, 500 mm f/4, w/wo 1.4 tele converter. In 2011, photographs made with the 1DMK4 in combination with 800.0mm f/5.6 lens have been included. Landscape photographs of the area were made with the Canon 17-40 mm L lens.

The attention to detail is simply outstanding in this Gallery, it is what the rest of us strive for.
I had the privilege to meet up with Norman again at the Wharf in Salmon Arm BC, whilst trying to capture Ospreys in flight, we spent a happy hour or two comparing cameras and lenses. Norman is a person that is extremely generous and forthcoming with his wealth of knowledge and is happy to share some of his many ideas and techniques. Thank you Norman for all you help.

Hello Norman - this gallery is a visual feast. I love the way that you have photographed the salmon as well. Many of those images remind me of west coast aboriginal art - not really sure why. The eagles are spectacular - lovely, thank you.
