Doing the School Run

What the **** is going on with this weather!

This is me testing the depth of the water! Well its Friday and it's sort of an SP.

There is no river near this road, just the weight of water coming off surrounding fields, thought our village was cut off at one point with abandoned cars..
1.5hrs to get the kids from school which is only 4 miles away

and its still coming down!

Ironically it wasn't too bad in the Lake District - just the occasional light shower!
Can't believe all the chaos I missed.

I was reading about the flooding yesterday and it's pretty awful really. More than just a tsk bloody english summer; people are really having problems. Then there's a heat wave on the continent where 500 people have died in Hungary.

Doesn't look like much fun! Hope it dries out soon.

Send some of this rain to the US, as we are dry as a bone here in Virginia.

This shot is a great record of this years summer! It took my o/h nearly 4 hours tonight to drive from Swindon to Stroud. Swindon was totally gridlocked as the A419 was shut!

That's a hell of a run off. We were on flood warning last night with some huge storms a few miles south of us. At least we've avoided the golf ball sized hail and tornadoes - so far!!

It's like this in Ireland too. What will happen to the sunny summery memories of children? This is a very evocative image.

Just been through the same myself.
I had a meeting which afterwards I had to take my shoes and socks off
roll up the trousers and wade to the car and climb through the tailgate
as the water was over the door seal.
I was surprised it started.

You could do with a narrow boat along there!

Bright sunshine here!
So many have been affected by this weather - flood victims, farmers and festival organisers for example.
