My mother at age 12

This photo is from a photo album that my grandfather kept. Queenie is a nickname that my mother's family gave her. My mother told me they called her that because she tended to be self centered. That was certainly not true in her adult years. The guitar was given to her by my grandfather. My mom told me that he skipped lunch for a year to save up enough money to buy it for her. My mother and her younger sister performed at various events and even traveled to NYC (by themselves!) to perform on the radio show "The Children's Hour".

And those good looks are evident in you daughter's photos. Does musical ability have a genetic connection, as your son shows.

Your mother was a very pretty young lady, and what an interesting story behind this photograph! V.
