One of nature's more exciting moments, at least for the snake. I have seen a garter snake, finishing this same meal of an american toad: it's amazing how wide they can open their mouths by undoing their lower jaw, and then gradually ingest such an enormous meal. [Seehttp://www.pbase.com/mikerossmd/reptileseatingreptiles]. We found it much later after the toad was on his way down the throat. The stripe on the back of this and the snake's size make me think garter snake, but...????
