When I lived with Bibi Ji and family our house was the largest house in the Mohallah. It was used for weddings. The major commotion would be on the ground floor (mostly in the courtyard - they would close up the other rooms). A band, dancing (Pakistani style), food being served to the men. The upstairs balconies was where the women were. More or less secluded, and able to view over the rails. My front porch! I tried to be discreet.
Out in front of the house the deghs (big pots) were lined up to cook for the multitude of whoever wanted to come.
