Timergara is the district headquarters of Dir (829 m - 2700 ft). The District Commissioner's guest house in Timergara was quite posh. It is right in the middle of opium territory and DEA types stay here when they tour the area. The rooms were air-conditioned, with attached baths, shag rugs, and real beds. I spilled gun oil on the carpet while cleaning my pistol. Opps!
(note: compare it to the Noor Habib Khan Hotel in the last photo - the bathroom facilities were out behind the building there, but nobody cared if I spilled gun oil on the mud floor.)
