Sarghoda, Remont Depot

We transported our horses from Sarghoda to Peshawar by truck in June 1988. We trained them in Peshawar, and then got as far as Dir, when the trip had to be abandoned because of personal complications. We then transported them back down to the Punjab, again by truck, to Toba Tek Singh, where they stayed that winter. Then in April, 1989, we transported then back to Peshawar, retrained and refitted them, and finally started on our 'horse holiday'. In Pakistan there are no fancy horse trailers, so we used trucks with straw on the floors (to try to keep then from getting too scraped up). The trucks may not have been as good as dedicated horse trailers, but in my opinion (if not the horse's) the truck's paintings made up for this.

He did eat a lot. It was in 1988-9 and if you looked through this gallery you see that I traveled with them 1000 miles through the mountains of Northern Pakistan. There were for of them and it was a real chore keeping them fed in the high mountains in the north.

Wow, that is an absolutely beautiful horse. Is it yours? I bet it takes quite a bit to feed it. I have a horse about that size, and he eats a ton! I feel like I'm buying food for him almost every week! He absolutely loves alfalfa! Does yours? http://MIDWAYFORAGE.COM
