Sail Track Damage Repair . . . Tides Strong Track

.

The sail headboard on this 36 spar pulled the underlying stainless steel sail track and the installed Stong Track away from the composite, carbon fibre/fiber, mast section.

This deformation occurred due to the less than ideal structural support supplied by the small individual pieces of track section attached to the mast. Each of these small pieces was individually fastened with a single tapped machine screw. Being separate, none of these pieces were able provide mutual support.

The situation was exacerbated (Botts Thott) by a single intermediate (short) Tide slide attached to the sail headboard by the loft who built the sail that came with this boat.

Two competent riggers took several hours to effect the repair.
