I first entered this Smith & Rhuland Shipyard shed in 1961 to see BLUENOSE II's hull being laid up and caulked. Some of the workmen I saw that day had worked on BLUENOSE
HMS BOUNTY was on the opposite side of the wharf ready to sail to Tahiti to meet Marlon Brando and cast to make that movie
45 years later it's still a very special place and BLUENOSE II is docked very nearby. I'd been on HMS BOUNTY mere weeks before in Boothbay ME where she was being totally rebuilt and refitted with money from her earnings in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movies
