CONVERGENCE 66

.

After years of searching and the ability to have almost any boat they might prefer, Randy & Sally-Christine Repass selected the Wylie 66 design for their new family yacht. What a lovely yacht !

Arthur,

Apologies for not replying earlier!

As you might imagine after cruising for 4+ months I have had some catching up to do !

I hope that your Nonsuch event on December 2 was a big success!

I have been a Nonsuch fan for many years. I grew up cruising on the East Coast, have cruised there over the years and have always admired the looks, performance and capacity of Nonsuch's. We have seen Nonsuch's in the Caribbean, British Columbia and the South Pacific as well as throughout the US.

One of the inspirations for the Wyliecat 30 and other Wyliecat sailboats was the Nonsuch. Tom Wylie was impressed with the way they performed and went on to update the design with an even more flexible rig to really bend and depower the boat when the wind comes up. He also put the rig on much lighter and narrower hulls resulting in boats with high performance. Wyliecat 30's are actively raced on San Francisco Bay. Even though it blows hard here often, some of the owners never put in a reef due to the depowering effect of the very flexible rig. And one does not need a big crew to sail a Wyliecat competitively! More information at http://www.wyliecat.com

Our boat is currently in New Caledonia. We sailed to the South Pacific in 2004 and plan on another year or so of cruising there. We try to get out 4 or so months a year. It's lots of fun, a good way to get first hand information about how West Marine can do a better job and a great way to test product! Sally-Christine, my wife, has written some journals about our cruise in the South Pacific which along with some product comments that I wrote are posted at http://www.westmarine.com

We don't have any plans at this time to make it to the East Coast even though we love cruising there. There are so many other great places to check out!

I would however be honored to be a member of the International Nonsuch Association. Thank you for the invite to be a member. Keep up the great work with the Nonsuch Association.

All the best,

Randy Repass
