Jon bought a trawler in June 2008 and permanently put SKYLARK on the hard.

Owned since new by Jon & Cynthia Ayers. Sadly, Cynthia 'crossed the bar' in early 2004 after a decade battling a difficult illness.

Jon & Cynthia bought one of the very first 30Cs . . . SKYLARK 30C 11 . . . at the 1978 Annapolis Boat Show. A series of SKYLARKs had done well in YRA-LIS (West-Long Island Sound) sailing events in the '60s and '70s. The Ayers also did well thereafter with their 30C and with this 33.

Jon very likely saved the INA from total oblivion in '87 when Hinterhoeller Yachts went bankrupt without paying the $17,000 sponsorship commitment toward the Newport 1987 World Rendezvous. Jon's calm and able hand on the helm and gentle appeal for monetary assistance to all the owners . . . quickly brought their INA through dangerous waters and onto smooth seas. Jon also authored and long managed the INA ListServ and the INA newsletter UPDATE. Jon was a tireless President of the INA Board while always benefiting from Cynthia's support and participation.

SKYLARK was a fixture at International Rendezvous in '85 (2nd), '87, '89 (1st), '91 (2nd) . . . with Jon, Cynthia plus family Bill & Jackie . . . and in '93 (1st), '95 (1st), '97 (2nd), & '00 (3rd) with Jon, Cynthia, & Arthur Langley.

No one has done more, or likely ever will, for their fellows in the INA than Jon Ayers and few have done as much for all sailors on the West Sound.

After over 8 years of considering a trawler, Jon put SKYLARK on the hard and on the market in June of 2008. A fine yacht, maintained by one of the finest seamen . . . SKYLARK will make some lucky sailor happy from day one and for a very long time !
