MERLIN OF MERSEA 30U K3047T /489 1989

.

After selling their GOLDENMEAN 40 - /1 they acquired this 30U.

They wrote in October 2008 . . .

Thank you for your good wishes for our new venture with MOM and your helpful information. It has been quite a big job getting her back up together for launching but she is now in the water and we have had our first little shake down in the bay at Burnham-on-Sea. Once the sail was up we had a cracking run up and down a nice stretch of the River Parrott for a couple of hours in a Force 4/5. Considering that she still has her original sail she went very well. There is still plenty of work inside to do so she is an ongoing project for now. We still have our mooring in St. Mawes Cornwall and all being well intend to take MOM down channel in the spring and keep her there for the season. We do have a few photos of her but no sailing ones as yet.

We have fitted a new 3-blade feathering Kiwi prop which seems to drive her through the water pretty well so far as we have tested. We find the steering mechanism so much lighter than GOLDENMEAN, which was relatively stiff though not heavy. MOM certainly dances about a bit more readily but we shall get used to her. She has got a combination of characteristics from GOLDENMEAN 40 and our previous boat CARMINOWE, which was a Freedom 25 so I'm sure we shall enjoy getting to know her.

As far as GOLDENMEAN 40 is concerned she has sold again within a month of our sale due to their family problems apparently so we do not know where she now is or who owns her. Hopefully they will turn up.

Thanks once again for your help.
