After owning CORVUS 30C 216 since she was new, Maurice & Aileen have now owned THE WHITE CAT for many years and sail her from the same Club.
Like he did with CORVUS, Maurice has taken THE WHITE CAT to the U.S. north east, including the Bosotn 2004 Rendezvous.
Maurice & Aileen have participated in every World Rendezvous since 1985. Maurice Chaired what is conceded to be the best ever, Kingston 1989 Rendezvous. He has ably served on or advised the Commmitee of every World Rendezvous since. One highlight was being the winning 30 in the 'Round Block Island competition in the Newport 1987 Rendezvous. At the Newport 1991 Rendezvous the boat won the pin end of every start PLUS port tacked the entire 60+ boat 30 fleet! The crew won the Newport-Block Island Cruise beating all other 30s AND won the best appetizer in the Dock Walk Cocktail Party !
Amongst some other neat features, Maurice added the fabulously practical cockpit sole engine hatch, similar in size to those in the 33s' but MUCH easier to use . . . and much more expensive ! :)

David & Beth commissioned THE WHITE CAT 30 as one of the 'first four'. As with their previous lovely yachts, they sailed her from their Club on West-Lake Ontario. Amongst a too long to list number of wonderful sailing achievements, David also organized and Chaired the first World Nonsuch gathering . . . the Toronto 1985 Rendezvous !
David's incredibly knowledgeable and creatively inventive mind including regarding boat layouts and sailing systems (on deck & below), ALL in addition to being a world class sailor, resulted in the layout below and rig of THIS Nonsuch being very unique and incredibly enjoyable when compared to all her exceptionally pleasant sisters. Beth's lifetime of experience aboard all kinds of yachts and exquisite taste also contributed greatly to this very well laid out and most proper yacht !

On August 17, I had the opportunity to crew with Maurice & Aileen Anderson on THE WHITE CAT from Newcastle east along the north shore of Lake Ontario to Cobourg. What nice folks they are !
What a distinctive rig . . . NO wishbone boom! The entire carbon fibre spar rotates using a toggle switch in the cockpit, which furls or unfurls the sail. With no wishbone, the sail is tacked like the genoa on a conventional sloop. After tacking, the mast is rotated slightly to bring the luff of the sail to the leeward side of the mast. The larger winches are the sheet winches, the smaller are for moving the sheet leads up and down on the the car lead tracks. Note how the radar is integrated on the davits.
