Ellie, I tried contacting you via your AOL e-mail address but I keep getting bounce backs saying that your account doesn't exist or something. Can you please contact me again at OldMiamiMemories@gmail.com? Thanks!

I remember the kids' movies at Sears. My parents took my brother and me up to one of the higher floors, out through a door to a place on the roof surrounded by canvas. We sat in folding chairs and watched black and white 35mm movies, mostly westerns. The smell of the canvas was strogest on warm nights. Another memorable thing was watching ping pong balls swirl around inside a washing machine that was on display. The balls showed how well the machine worked. It might have been a Kenmore machine. Also, there were separate drinking fountains for blacks and whites by the wide marble stairways that went from floor to floor.
