Photos are of the AAPRCO Special as it raced across eastern New Mexico, enroute to a convention at Albuquerque. This is about 5 miles east of Fort Sumner at approx 10am. The 4 Amtrak locomotives at the head end were P42s #85, 194, 23, & 11. Consist was 19 private passenger cars, with the Caritas on the end. First time, I photographed the Caritas was coming into Omaha, Nebraska, back about 1988. On Saturday, I was in Albuquerque for a hot rod event so I drove by the depot to see these cars again.. Shot a few more photos from the overpass.
